My Favorite Things In February

February! One of my favorite months! And not just because it’s my birthday month!

This post marks the start of a new series called “My Favorite Things”. My hope is to express more gratitude for things that we may take for granted – more gratitude for the mundane. Let’s show a little appreciation for the things we don’t usually think twice about.

It’s Cold Enough To Actually Feel Cozy

Let’s get real. Living in Texas means it’s 75 degrees on Christmas morning yet we lie to ourselves and pretend like it’s the coziest, most snuggly weather to fit the Christmas aesthetic. But it’s not. Don’t get me wrong, there are PLENTY of things I love about December – the list goes on and on. Cozy weather is just not one of them.

However, February is always one of the coldest months of the year. That means fuzzy socks are on, the fireplace is raging, soft blankets are out, candles are burning, and a good movie is playing. Makes me smile just thinking about it.

Valentine’s Day

The day of ewy, gooey, mushy, gushy love! Better yet – chocolate! And even better – the February 15th sale on chocolate! So many good parts about this holiday. Whether you’re single, dating, engaged or married, there’s a little something for everyone.

Even if you aren’t dating anyone, this is not a holiday to be sad about. I’d take a good Galentine’s over a traditional date night any day (sorry Nathan). Love is love y’all! And I love my friends. That one-of-a-kind friendship deserves just as much celebration as a relationship does.

Potential Snow Day?

This is a touchy subject. But let me be clear about what I mean by this. The key word is in “day”. Not week. Not snowmaggedon. Not shutdown of powergrid. I’m thinking snow-overnight-and-melt-by-3pm kind of snow day. Those were always my favorite as a child. School was canceled, we made snowmans, and we sled down the golf course hills on trash can lids. Simply the best.

That Feeling of Coffee, Tea, or Soup Warming Your Insides

There’s nothing like that feeling as you take a sip of a steamy liquid and close your eyes as run down your body. Sometimes it even gives me chills – but it’s SO GOOD. I can’t really explain it, but it makes whatever your having taste 10x better too.

The Super Bowl

Greasy American food and good old-fashioned football. A classic combo. It usually makes the Sunday Scaries a little less intense because there’s something fun going on that evening. With the Cowboys out of the running, I just hope to see a good game this year.

Winter Fashion

I absolutely love a good sweater, boots and coat look. Fall/winter fashion is my favorite. Here’s some looks I love.

The Color Pink Just Makes Sense

If you know me, you know I live my life in neutrals. Neutral everything. But there’s something so fun about the color pink during February. Right now I’m thinking of those little pink Valentine’s crafts. It brings back the nostalgia of grade school when we made them for each of our classmates every year.

The Baked Goodies

Still playing off of the Valentine’s theme, but you cannot deny a good Valentine’s treat. Especially when they are heart-shaped!

My Birthday!

Okay, I’m going to be honest. This is definitely my top-favorite thing about February. To be fair though, what I love about it is how I am able to bring together friends from all different parts of my life. Watching everyone mix, mingle, and make new connections warms my heart ❤️ (more cheesy play on Valentine’s Day 😁).

Mindfulness Is Important

What we chose to think about and focus on has a huge impact on our attitudes, thoughts and feelings. Choosing to be mindful of even the smallest, most minute or miniscule detail can change our entire outlook on the day.

What are some of your favorite things about February?

Much Love,
