I am Excited to Announce…

Hi lovelies,

It’s been a while, huh. Four weeks to be exact. My bad, y’all.

To be completely honest, I got lost in all of my responsibilities, obligations and commitments. Life got a bit overwhelming there for a while, and well, Sweat and Soul got put on the backburner. While I am saddened by that fact, I also know that life ebbs and flows. There are times when we are on top of it all and times when it is all on top of us. That’s life. The best thing to do is just embrace it. Thus, I am giving myself grace for taking a month off from writing even though it brings me sincere joy and peace.

Now, I bet you are wondering what the title of this post is about. Well, it is about something which took a lot of my time and energy to pursue these last few weeks and is part of the reason for my absence. But it was all worth it.

Drum Roll Please…

I am going to be a critical care float pool nurse extern at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth this summer! This means I get the opportunity to work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), and the Emergency Department (ED). Somebody pinch me.

I cannot put into words how excited I am about this opportunity. This semester I have been completing my pediatric clinical rotation at Dell Children’s Medical Center here in Austin and have fallen in love with working with children and their families. To get to work with kids in a critical care setting – it’s really a dream come true.

I am blessed to be able to experience working in multiple critical care units this summer as I continue to figure out exactly where I belong in this field. I am eager to hopefully find an answer come August, when the scary nurse residency job application process begins.

But let’s not dwell on that. It’s too scary. For now, I’m living in the thrill of this new adventure.

This Wouldn’t Be Possible Without…

I have to give a shout out one of my best friends and her husband, Marisa and Adam, because they are graciously letting me live at their lovely new home this summer so that I can pursue this dream. This wouldn’t be possible without them. So truly, thank you. I love you both so much.

Thank you to all of my friends and family for your love and support. You know who you are.

Much Love,

Lovisa Kay

P.S. Check out Marisa’s EXTRAORDINARY blog, Yay!, you’re here!
